MY STORY

Hi! I’m a New York-based photographer currently residing in Long Island City, New York. But it all began in Siberia, Russia where I was born and raised and was supposed to live happily ever after working in a financial department in one of the boring companies I applied for. But I’m secretly a rebel at heart with love for traveling and everything creative. So you wouldn’t be surprised that New York conquered me with all the happenings, the grandeur and diversity the first time I visited.

Let’s go back again to see how I ended up as a photographer. I graduated with a business degree but always knew I won’t be able to do an office job.I did it briefly and I felt like I was living someone else’s life. A friend of mine actually got me into photography, while in college. It became a new cool thing to do and a much needed outlet to express my artistic vision. Now all my travels were accompanied by a camera and I loved catching everything and everyone around me on film.

Moving to New York in 2012 gave me hope that maybe it can be a career. I had a lot of odd jobs, met a lot of talented people, interned and tried workshops and classes and hang around creative people. I think the last one was a major influence. Eventually I started getting my first clients. After the first wedding I photographed, my dad asked me if it’s true that people actually pay me to take their photos. It was just not a part of his world, and he couldn’t understand what I was doing in a far away America.

It took time to find my passion and that ‘s OK. Some mistakes I had to learn in the field and had to overcome my insecurities ( they still come, don’t get me wrong). But I grew to understand myself more through this journey, and to connect to people and help them see themselves from a new perspective.

I learned the importance of:

trying new things and experimenting,

surrounding myself with like minded people,

sharing my truth however small or big,

hearing people and making sure I understand their vision and expectations,

bringing value to people through the experience as well as the final product,

staying curious and open hearted.

Hope you enjoyed my little story here and hope to see you soon whether in the viewfinder of my camera or in another scenario.

MY APPROACH

My passion for photography comes from an interest in human psychology and a love for observing human nature in day-to day-interactions. The slight movements, subtle facial expressions, hand gestures, intense eye contact—all these little in-betweens inspire me to use photography as an instrument to tell people’s stories and immortalize emotional and raw moments in a sometimes nontraditional way.

I love creative, expository storytelling, so it excites me when a photo can tell a story. For me, benchmark for a good photo is whether or not someone totally unrelated to the subject of the photo can enjoy the photo as well. If that happens, the photo takes on a life of its own and becomes not just documentation, but art.

As a wedding photographer, my goal is to create a beautiful and honest narrative of your special day showing love, emotion and that unique connection that only you two have. I love capturing moments that can easily be unnoticed in the hustle of the big day. I aim to show the true beauty of the celebration that you can cherish forever.

I believe that when you choose your photographer you also need to make sure you find a person with whom you'll feel comfortable, since that's the person who is going to be around for the entire day of the wedding. It's quite an intimate experience to be photographed and trust is a factor that I cannot stress enough. Also, I recommend you spend some time reviewing the work and don't be shy about asking questions throughout the entire process. Finally, before booking, consider meeting for a coffee or scheduling a chat over the phone.
